Mesa Hat

09/09/05 update - This hat has been ripped and is awaiting to be re-knit at a smaller size.

Some vacation knitting while we were at VA beach. My son got sick with a low-grade fever and headache which kept us in our room. So while he was sleeping, I decided to start a new project. The ribbing (3 inches of 2 x 2) on fingering weight yarn was a pain. Something I do not wish to repeat. However, once the ribbing started showing I could not stop.

Picture below reminds me of Gilligan's Island.

Kerchief Scarf

This was definitely a quick knit. It only took me longer because
1) I ran out of yarn;
2) I was planning on making it bigger;
3) I did not touch it at all during our vacation.

As soon as we got back from vacation, I bound off the stitches. I eventually decided against it making a bigger scarf. So here it is ...

Hourglass Sweater progress

I've been working on this lately. I'm really enjoying knitting this up. The yarn feels so soft on my hands.

Don't be deceived - I hid all those tails inside the sweater so the picture looks good. I'm dreading having to go back to weave them in.

I started the second sleeve last night.

Tivoli

I know they're not the greatest pictures. But it'll have to do for now. It's such a quick knit. If not for my bonehead moment (see Tivoli and TV post below), I would've finished it sooner. Thanks Grumperina for a great pattern!!! I will definitely make another one.

Christmas in August

Anxiously awaiting the postman, I jump up when he rings the doorbell. Look at the presents he brought. Shine in Cream; Sock Memories in Carnival; Sock Landscape in Mesa and Sock Garden in Hydrangea.

Which quickly became these ...

They're for a Honeymoon Cami and a bunch of hats for the family.

Tivoli, Hourglass - Where am I?

Tivoli is almost done. Just a few more rows. Knit on!

Hourglass Sweater update - my biggest fear may have come true. It may not fit me and I may have to start over. I'm liking the half sleeve that I have so far though.

I see a lot of hats in my future

I was busy surfing and just happened to check on the KP site. OMG! They have new yarn and color cards. I just had to order some color cards and some Shine for another Honeymoon Cami to replace the one I gave my niece. I also got some sock yarn to make head-toppers for my son, daughter and hubby. If they turn out well, I may have to make some matching mittens as well. We'll see.

Tivoli and TV don't mix

Ok - so I figure I'd pick up my neglected Tivoli and add some more rows to it. I pop in the Gilmore Girls DVD and start knitting while watching. I guess I got so caught up in the show that when I stopped to check my work I noticed a glaring error. I forgot my last matching decrease and I was 8 rows past it.

I'm left with 2 options at this point.
1) Rip everything I did that afternoon and start over.
2) Drop the stitches and fix the k2tog.

I tried option 2 first but it left a gaping hole. No other way around it but to rip the last 8 rows. Man, this sucks!!! All my work that afternoon ripped out. I should've worked on something else - what a waste of time!

I thread the last row before I rip - crossing my fingers that I did this correctly. I go ahead and try it on - looked great! I'm still so frustrated that I will need to bag this project for now. Hopefully I'll get back to it soon.

I'm impressed with all those knitters that can read while knitting. How do you do it?

Finally some knitting progress

I got some knitting done over the weekend. I finally finished the orange kidlet tank with hearts. That took some planning on my part to figure out how to layout those little hearts. I won't bother showing pictures of the back since it looks hideous. Intarsia is not for me (at the moment)!

Tivoli is also picking up some steam - about 1/3 done. I'm at the point that I could try it on yesterday. Of course, my daughter thought I was nuts trying it on.

I started the Hourglass sweater sleeve with size 7 needles and got gauge. My only problem is that I want an in-between size. The smallest size is 33", the next size is 37". I don't think this sweater is knit with negative ease - so I may try to use smaller needles and stick with the 2nd size.

I'll upload some pictures tonight. Wow I just realized that all these projects are in some shade of orange.
