First project of 2007 - CPH

It took 5 days into the New Year before I picked up the needles again. I was mostly blog surfing and looking for inspiration for my next project. Yes, I have UFO's hanging around but I need something new to kick start 2007.

Remember this?

Peace Fleece haul 5/15/06

I've decided to knit from the stash and join the bandwagon known as the Central Park Hoodie. This is the first project where I actually knit a swatch. Here's my progress so far with 1 skein (~ 14" on the back).

True color - Lena's Meadow

Without flash to see the cables

I already did some surgery on this. After I did the first set of charts (10 rows), I looked at my work and noticed that the 1st crossover (lower right side) was reversed. It was clearly my mistake. Option A was to rip 8 rows. Option B was to drop 6 stitches 8 rows down and fix the cable. I opted for option B. I don't think it is noticeable, do you?

P.S. - Sorry for the blurry photos!

Christmas prezzies

I'll stick with the knitting related ones - some yummy yarn and a sock kit :-)

Hubby got enough DB Alpaca Silk for Lara and a skein of Misti Alpaca Lace. Now I'm only waiting for the DB magazine to arrive.

He also got me Trekking XXL 05, Brittany Birch needles in 3mm and a retractable tape measure.

Nickel says, "Thanks cousins (5 kitties) for the perfect doggie bandana!" Here he is modeling it on Christmas morning.

Poor Nickel had to be tied to the dining table so he wouldn't jump on the guests. He is so drawn to the scents of Body Butter. He's enrolled in Basic Training in January so this is temporary solution when there are visitors.

PGH Trip

We went to Pittsburgh, PA to visit the in-laws. We left on Friday around 6:30 pm and I was able to work on a few rows on sleeve #1 before I had to call it quits. My grandiose plans included trips to 2 LYS (Knit One and Bonnie Knits) over the weekend. Alas, we only had time to go to Bonnie Knits on Saturday. Little Man was so at home. He just plopped himself on the big chair and played on the Gameboy while Hubby looked at the yarn with me. I spotted some Zitron Trekking XXL which I have never seen before. So in the spirit of Socktoberfest, I asked Hubby to pick 2 colors. Then I saw the 50% off bin and scooped up a bag of Filatura di Crosa 501 (another new to me). Happy Day!

Major Stash Enhancement

Look what arrived in the mail today!

This is the reason I had to drop out of the Stashalong KAL on March 15th.
Two words - PEACE FLEECE.
After reading the reviews, I could not let a KAL stop me from buying yarn.
At $4.50/skein, I think I did pretty good.
It was a successful yarn coop for me.

Galooboy Blue for Little Man; Perestroika Pink for Pumpkin Girl
Moscow Magic Pink, Georgia Rose and Lena's Meadow for me.
Will Rogue be in Green or Pink?

Score!

My local craft store had a sale yesterday. I got the books and the yarn at 50% off. These are my only knitting books so far.

1. Ann Budd's "Knitters Handy Book of Sweater Patterns"
2. Nicky Epstein's "Knitting on the Edge"
3. Nancie Wiseman's "Knitter's Book of Finishing Techniques"
4. Paton's Classic Wool Merino in red and white

The red yarn is for a MIL scarf for Christmas, the white is for Kool-Aid dyeing (something I've been wanting to try). I also picked up FC Holiday 2005 magazine.

Christmas in August

Anxiously awaiting the postman, I jump up when he rings the doorbell. Look at the presents he brought. Shine in Cream; Sock Memories in Carnival; Sock Landscape in Mesa and Sock Garden in Hydrangea.

Which quickly became these ...

They're for a Honeymoon Cami and a bunch of hats for the family.

More yarn

Look what arrived in the mail today. Wait! I just ordered this on Monday. Can it be?!?!

It'll be for the Hourglass Sweater from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts. It looks so nice and soft. I'll have to start swatching soon. I still need to buy matching 12" circular needles for the sleeves.
