Hubby's Stash Scarf

A few weeks ago Hubby asked me to knit him a scarf. He wanted something from the stash. I wanted to make him an Irish Hiking scarf but did not have enough yarn for it. All I had was red, white and fuschia which were set aside for a felted bag. Red was too bright; fuschia was out of the question; so by default he got the winter white. I showed him a sampler scarf I made when I taught myself how to knit. He knows I'm a slow knitter and he wants to wear this scarf this winter. So we decided on a garter stitch scarf. I found some leftover grey and hunter green yarn that I can add to it to make it a bit more interesting.


This will be a perfect first project for Kim's Stashalong KAL.

Overall, our trip to PGH was successful. I got some knitting done. This will be a Christmas gift for FIL. It is safe to post a picture of the FO because they don't read my blog. Hubby picked out the yarn and the color. Unfortunately, grey is a difficult to capture in pictures. Trust me the cables are there.

For my first major cable project, it is a success. Not only did I learn how to knit cables, a few rows into the project I tried knitting without a cable needle. It goes so much faster. I love cables!!!

Branching Out

I missed knitting this week (too busy with kid's school projects and homework). I felt like I was in a rot because I kept seeing my WIPs and had no sense of accomplishment in sight. Earlier today I picked up Branching Out which was at 16 repeats. I sat down and planned to do a couple of pattern repeats. There's something about lace that kept pushing me to continue knitting (just one more pattern). I got so engrossed in it that I ended up finishing it (all 27 repeats).

It still needs to be blocked but here it is ...

Kerchief Scarf

This was definitely a quick knit. It only took me longer because
1) I ran out of yarn;
2) I was planning on making it bigger;
3) I did not touch it at all during our vacation.

As soon as we got back from vacation, I bound off the stitches. I eventually decided against it making a bigger scarf. So here it is ...

Hello fellow knitters!

I finally took the plunge and started my own blog to document my knitting experience.

I taught myself how to knit last March 2005 by purchasing a Learn to Knit scarf kit and borrowing some books from the local library. I learned the knit stitch but could not figure out the purl stitch from the diagrams. Finally, I broke down and attended a class at Michael's to have my knitting questions answered. I knitted a few headbands, 2 little bags and a poncho for my daughter. I knitted matching hats for son and hubby and couple of scarves for Mother's Day.



One of my officemates knits in the round. So I went and read some more on this topic. I think I'm ready to start with some projects.
