Picking up stitches

The other button band was not as traumatic as the first. I still had to rip it once to get the same number of stitches as the previous button band. The collar was a breeze since I knew what I was doing.

Need to go pack for a business trip. Finishing will be done when I get back.

Button Band Hell

What I didn't know did not scare me until I attempted to try doing it. For all you experienced knitters, I'm sure you're probably laughing at me. It took me four times to pick-up and knit the right front button band. I almost gave up on this project after the first 3 failed attempts.

Whew! I'm tired. At least I know what I need to do for the other side. But it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Good Night!

Sitcom Chic update

I am so close I can taste it. On the other hand, the last finishing touch scares me. I am at the point where I need to pick-up and knit the button bands and the neckline. I've never done this before. Yikes!

I still need to weave in those ends first and attach those bound off armpit stitches. In retrospect, I should have left them as live stitches so that I could just graft the stitches together. Oh well. Maybe when I have more knitting experience, then I can stray from the pattern. After all, this is my 1st Cardi.

I will upload some pictures soon. I promise.

My First Sweater

Presenting the Hourglass Sweater in all its glory. The pattern was so simple and easy to follow I will definitely make another one. The only modification was I followed the NBaT instructions for knitting the sleeves/waist hems (no sewing there!).

This project has a lot of firsts for me. I learned a lot! Let's mention a few:
1. Knitting sleeves and attaching them.
2. Grafting.
3. Sewing down the live stitches at the neckline. That was loads of fun!

See Bear give his stamp of approval.

Weekend plans

I finished the one red sleeve (pictured in previous post) but am not happy about it. I may need to rip it (again!). I haven't been knitting since Wednesday night. Life (kid's homework) just gets in the way, ya know. Anyhoo, this weekend will be a finishing/seaming weekend.

What needs to be done:
1. Hourglass Sweater - Seam the neckline; graft the sleeves; and weave in all those ends.
2. Carnival Hat - Add a pompom or tassle.
3. Mesa Hat - rip and wind into ball. I'll deal with knitting a smaller size another day.
4. Finish other UFOs, time permitting.

Sitcom Chic revisted

Back in July I started working on the sleeve and realized my error in interpreting the pattern instructions. I had to rip out the sleeve. I was so upset that I returned the project to its Ziploc bag.

Now that I've completed a few projects which still need seaming, I've found the courage to revisit this project. This is my way of shying away from all the finishing/seaming that need to be done.

I picked this up the other evening and once again took 3 times to cast on and join on DPNS. Sheesh! I'm so glad that I'm at a point where I can use my beloved Addi Circulars.

Carnival Hat

Here is another instant gratification project I worked on while finishing off the Hourglass Sweater. My son indulged me with some pictures yesterday while I was finishing his hat. What a ham! It's a carnival hat befitting his personality.

I'm still debating whether he gets a tassle or a pompom on top.
